- 6/25/08: We considered our show with Ned Rothenberg to be very successful, with a special highlight being Ned's shakuhachi on Jerry Morris' "Search for the Golden Raintree". Many thanks to Ned for his passionate artistry, and many thanks to all our friends for supporting us! Next gig is in July, either in Washington, DC or Baltimore.
- 5/29/08: New updates! The Saxophone Cartel is back in action, performing two shows in the next two months in the NYC area - see the Events page. We are now on myspace. Visit us and be friends! Bios and links were also updated. The June 2006 Space 101 record will be released, but we are still in deliberation about the optimum way to do this.
- 8/24/07: New media added on the Music page. The Sax Cartel is on Pandora, and video from our Weekly Special appearance is archived.
- 8/21/07: Site was modified slightly, updated links. Check out the Sax Cartel on YouTube.
- 5/12/07: Michael Eaton and Morgan Price join Jake Belser at Farm Fresh Studios to mix the newest Saxophone Cartel CD. We will begin searching soon for a label to publish the disc.
- 2/27/07: The SaxCarTriers CD mp3s have been posted! The entire CD is available for free download. Mp3 downloads of all album tracks are available through iTunes and many other internet sources (see the CD page), but we have ended mp3 downloads of Caught in the Act on this site.
- 2/20/07 After half a year down, this site has resumed operation under the .org heading (a squatter took the old domain name). Not all previous content has been restored, so thanks for your patience.
- 6/18/06: Thank you to all our guests, helpers, and friends who attended the recording of our latest CD and made this a great event! (A special shout out to Jeffrey Morris, Alanna Radecki, Cindy Levindofske, and Amy Locklin for all their support.) We had a blast playing for you! The CD is now in production, and we hope to release it in 3-5 months. Label TBA.
SPECIAL NOTE**: Some of you may have purchased copies of the limited edition SaxCarTriers (Sax Cartel with DJ Triers) disc, but possibly found it wouldn't play in your CD player. Please via e-mail, and we will gladly replace your disc free of charge. Also, free mp3s of this disc will be available through our site shortly.
- 5/12/06: The Sax Cartel's next CD will be recorded live in Bloomington on May 13, 2006 at Space 101. They will be joined by special guests: Dave Scalia, drums; Omar Ruiz-Oliver, congas and percussion; Aaron "Eggs" Benedict, guitar; and DJ Triers, Casio keyboard. Tickets are on sale! Click on "Events" for more information. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.
- 5/11/06: Caught in the Act is now available for download at iTunes! It is now easier than ever to listen to the Sax Cartel. All tracks are $0.99 on iTunes. Purchase requires the iTunes program, available here.
- 4/06: We are proud to announce that "Caught in the Act" was reviewed in Cadence Magazine. The review appears in the April 2006 edition (with Dave Ballou on the cover). Excerpts from this review will appear here soon. We also anticipate that Jazz Improv Magazine will be reviewing the disc too. Check us out in the press!
- 2/24/06: The Saxophone Cartel now has a page on allmusic.com, the online home of the All Music Guide. The All Music Guide is a very comprehensive resource dedicated to documenting and (in many cases) reviewing recordings in jazz, improvised music, rock, soul, blues, and much more. - 5/31/05: The Saxophone Cartel is pleased to announce the addition of downloadable sheet music files (full score and parts in pdf format) free of charge. We will be adding more files in the coming few weeks. Go to the Music Downloads page to access the files.
- CATS TV (Channel 3, Bloomington local public access) is once again airing concert footage from the Cartel's performance at Jazz in July (7/23/04). Bloomington residents can request replays by e-mailing the CATS programming director or by calling (812) 349-3111.
- The Saxophone Cartel was accepted to play at the North Sea Jazz Festival in July 2005. This honor was shared with Matt Cashdollar's Mad Cap 4. The Cartel did not attend, but was pleased to be associated with the North Sea Festival, one of the most respected jazz festivals in the world, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2005. This appearance was to be under the auspices of the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE).
